In 1984, Bruno Prats and Paul Pontallier (RIP), renowned Agronomist-Oenologists from the Bordeaux region of France, began searching for a high-quality terroir in Chile to create an original vineyard.
To this end, they partnered with a mutual friend, Felipe de Solminihac, a Chilean Agronomist-Oenologist of French origin. In 1990, they acquired 18 hectares in Peñalolén, within the city of Santiago: This location, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, is situated in the "Quebrada de Macul," in the historical heart of the Maipo Valley.
Today, the second generation of the founders is taking control of the winery, helping with sales worldwide in the commercial area.
Winery Tour
Viña Aquitania is a boutique winery located at the foot of the Andes Mountains, within the city of Santiago, in the heart of the Maipo Alto Valley. We focus on producing high-quality wines in limited quantities.
Our visitors have the opportunity to observe the complete wine production process, where modern equipment is used, and the tradition of artisanal processes, such as manual labeling of bottles, is preserved.
The tour begins at the winery's viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of the vineyard. Then, visitors descend to appreciate the vineyard and its condition depending on the time of year. Finally, the vinification cellar, tank room, and barrel room are toured. The visit concludes with a tasting of four Premium and Icon wines.
